Woodpecker

What the tradition holds

Read as persistence, and as a signal to keep knocking on the thing you have been knocking on.

Where that reading came from

A woodpecker drums both to find insects and to claim territory by sound. The persistence is real and it is mostly an advertisement.

Drumming on a gutter is a territorial display, not a message. It is still the sound you noticed, and the day you noticed it counts.
