Terms & Conditions
About inCommon
inCommon is a space for self-reflection. It brings astrology, Human Design, numerology and other reflective traditions together with a private journal, so you can look at your own patterns over time and notice what you hold in common with the people around you.
You can begin with nothing more than a birth date. Your charts, your readings and your record live with you: most of inCommon works without an account, and an account lets you keep your record across devices. The Oracle writes personal readings for the day, the week and the month, and Codex Luminary is an optional subscription for in-depth readings. A library of reference material, reflective practices, readings and a journal sit alongside them.
inCommon is made for reflection and personal exploration. It is not a source of predictions, and it is not a substitute for professional care or advice of any kind. If you are ever in crisis, Get Help is on every screen.
inCommon is created and maintained by Nathaniel J. Figueroa.
Please read these Terms carefully. They are a legal agreement between you and the operator of inCommon. By creating an account, subscribing, or otherwise using inCommon, you agree to these Terms and confirm you have read our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use inCommon. Section 15 limits our liability and section 18 says which law and courts apply.

1. Who we are
inCommon (the “Service”) is operated by Nathaniel J. Figueroa, an individual based in the State of Florida, United States (“we”, “us”, “our”). “You” means the person using the Service. We may transfer the operation of the Service, and these Terms, to a company we form to operate it; see section 20.
2. Who may use inCommon
You must be at least 16 years old to use inCommon. If you are under 18, or under the age of majority where you live, you may only buy a Codex Luminary subscription with the permission of a parent or legal guardian, who agrees to these Terms on your behalf and is responsible for the payment. You may not use the Service if you are barred from doing so under applicable law.
3. What inCommon is, and what it is not
inCommon offers readings, interpretations and reference material drawn from astrology, Human Design, numerology, tarot, the I Ching, dream and symbol traditions and similar practices. These traditions are offered for reflection, self-exploration and entertainment. They are not scientifically established, and nothing in the Service is a statement of fact about you, other people, or the future.
Nothing in the Service is medical, psychological, psychiatric, legal, financial, tax or other professional advice, and it does not create any professional or therapeutic relationship. Do not use the Service to diagnose or treat any condition, and do not delay seeking or disregard professional advice because of anything you read in it. Readings about two or more people describe how charts relate to each other; they say nothing about how anyone treats anyone else, and they are not a measure of any person or relationship. You are responsible for the decisions you make.
Some features, including reflective practices, may bring up difficult feelings. Use your judgement, stop any practice that does not feel right, and use Get Help if you need support.
4. Crisis resources
inCommon is not an emergency or crisis service and cannot respond to emergencies. If you or someone else is in danger, call your local emergency number now. Get Help and the Self Help Yellow Pages list crisis lines and other services run by independent organisations. We do not operate, supervise or guarantee those services, and their availability, hours and numbers can change. Contacting them is between you and them.
5. Your account
An account is optional, but some features need one. You agree to give accurate sign up information, keep your password confidential, and tell us promptly through Contact Support if you think someone else has accessed your account. You are responsible for activity under your account. We recommend turning on two-step sign in in your profile. We may refuse, suspend or close an account that breaks these Terms.
6. The Oracle and AI generated readings
Oracle readings are generated automatically by an artificial intelligence model provided by a third party (currently Moonshot AI). By consulting the Oracle you ask us to send a summary of your chart to that provider, as described in section 6 of our Privacy Policy.
- AI generated readings can be inaccurate, inconsistent, incomplete or unexpected, and may not reflect our views. They are not reviewed by a person before you see them.
- Readings are offered for reflection only, under section 3. Do not rely on them for any decision about your health, safety, relationships, finances or legal matters.
- The Oracle is limited to a number of reading requests per account per day (currently six), and we may change that limit or pause the Oracle to protect the Service.
- Subject to these Terms, you may use the readings written for you for your own personal, non-commercial purposes.
7. Codex Luminary subscription
What it includes
Codex Luminary unlocks in-depth Oracle readings. Every chart, the numbers and standard readings remain available without it. We may change what the subscription includes, but will not materially reduce it during a period you have already paid for.
Price and automatic renewal
Codex Luminary is offered as a monthly or a yearly plan. The price of each plan, plus any applicable taxes, is shown on the checkout page before you pay, and confirmed in the receipt we send when you subscribe. In the iPhone and Android apps it is sold through the App Store or Google Play at the price the store shows you, in your currency and including any tax the store charges. Your subscription renews automatically at the end of each monthly or yearly period, and your payment method is charged the then current price, until you cancel. On the website, payments are processed by Stripe, and by subscribing you also agree to Stripe’s terms; in the apps, Apple or Google takes the payment (see section 22). If we change the price, we will tell you at least 30 days before it applies to your next renewal, and you can cancel before then.
Free trial
On the website, Codex Luminary starts with a 7-day free trial, once per person. You enter a payment method when the trial starts, and nothing is charged during it. When the trial ends, your subscription begins: your payment method is charged the price of the plan you chose, and it then renews automatically as described above, unless you cancel before the trial ends. You can cancel during the trial in Manage billing at no charge, and you keep access until the trial ends. If you have held a Codex Luminary subscription before, on the website or in the apps, a new one starts without a trial. A trial in the iPhone or Android app, when one is offered, is set by the App Store or Google Play and follows its terms.
Cancelling
If you subscribed on the website, you can cancel at any time, online, by choosing Manage billing on the Oracle’s In-Depth screen, which opens Stripe’s billing portal, or by asking us through Contact Support. If you subscribed in the iPhone or Android app, cancel in your Apple account or Google Play subscription settings, which Manage subscription on the same screen in the app opens; Apple and Google do not let us cancel a store subscription for you. Cancellation stops future renewals; you keep access until the end of the period you have paid for. Deleting your account cancels a subscription bought on the website at once, and the rest of that period is not refunded. It does not cancel one bought in the App Store or Google Play, so cancel that in your store settings before you delete your account.
Refunds
Payments are non-refundable and there are no refunds or credits for partial periods, except where required by law or where we choose to make an exception. If you are a consumer in the European Union or the United Kingdom, you have a right to withdraw from a purchase within 14 days. Because in-depth readings are digital content supplied immediately, you ask us to begin supplying it when you subscribe and acknowledge that you lose the right to withdraw once supply has begun, to the extent the law allows. Refunds for a subscription bought in the App Store or Google Play are decided by Apple or Google under their own policies, and are requested from them.
Failed payments
If a payment fails, we, Stripe, Apple or Google may retry it, and access to Codex Luminary may be paused until payment succeeds.
8. Your content
You own what you write and enter in inCommon, including your journal, notes and birth details (“Your Content”). You give us a limited, non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty free licence to store, copy, transmit and display Your Content only as needed to operate the Service for you, for example to keep your record with your account or to prepare an Oracle reading you ask for. This licence ends when Your Content is deleted from our systems, except for copies in backups that expire on their normal schedule. We do not claim ownership of Your Content, and we do not use your journal for any purpose other than keeping it for you. You are responsible for Your Content and for keeping your own copies; you can download them with Export in Settings.
9. Other people’s information
inCommon lets you add other people’s birth details, read charts together, and send or receive cards. You agree to do so only with the other person’s permission, to respect their privacy, and not to use the Service to monitor, harass, pressure or make claims about anyone. Any profile you create for someone else, and anything you write about them, is your responsibility.
10. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- use the Service unlawfully, or to harm, threaten, harass or deceive anyone;
- create accounts by automated means, share or sell an account, or create accounts to get around limits or payment;
- get around, disable or interfere with security features, sign in protection, two-step sign in, usage limits or payment requirements;
- access the Service or our server functions other than through the interfaces we provide, or scrape, overload or disrupt them;
- send the Oracle anything other than what the app prepares, or attempt to make it produce content for purposes unrelated to your own readings;
- copy, sell, resell, sublicense or publish our content or readings commercially, or reverse engineer the Service except where the law expressly allows it;
- upload malicious code, or content that infringes anyone’s rights or is unlawful.
11. Our content and intellectual property
The Service, including its design, software, text, readings and interpretations we have written, graphics, and the inCommon name and logo, belongs to us or our licensors and is protected by intellectual property laws. Subject to these Terms, we give you a personal, limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to use the Service for your own non-commercial purposes. All rights not expressly granted are reserved. Names of traditions and systems referred to in the Service belong to their respective owners, and their use does not imply any affiliation or endorsement.
If you send us feedback or suggestions, we may use them without any obligation to you.
12. Third party services and links
The Service relies on and links to services run by others, including Stripe, Apple, Google, RevenueCat, our AI provider, our hosting and authentication providers, crisis lines and other websites. We are not responsible for third party services or content, and your use of them is governed by their own terms and policies.
13. Changes and availability
We may change, add or remove features, and may suspend or discontinue all or part of the Service. If we discontinue Codex Luminary, we will refund the unused part of any period you have paid for. The Service may sometimes be unavailable, including for maintenance, and parts of it depend on providers we do not control. Information kept only on your device is not backed up by us.
14. Disclaimers
TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, THE SERVICE AND ALL CONTENT, READINGS AND INFORMATION IN IT ARE PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE”, WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, WHETHER EXPRESS, IMPLIED OR STATUTORY, INCLUDING ANY WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, TITLE, NON-INFRINGEMENT, ACCURACY OR QUIET ENJOYMENT. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE SERVICE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, SECURE OR ERROR FREE, THAT ANY READING, CALCULATION OR INTERPRETATION IS ACCURATE, COMPLETE OR SUITABLE FOR YOU, OR THAT ANY INFORMATION WILL BE PRESERVED.
Some places do not allow certain warranties to be excluded, so some of the above may not apply to you.
15. Limitation of liability
TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, WE WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, EXEMPLARY OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR FOR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS, REVENUE, DATA, GOODWILL OR OPPORTUNITY, OR FOR ANY DECISION YOU MAKE OR ACTION YOU TAKE BASED ON THE SERVICE OR ANY READING, ARISING OUT OF OR RELATING TO THESE TERMS OR THE SERVICE, HOWEVER CAUSED AND UNDER ANY THEORY OF LIABILITY, EVEN IF WE HAVE BEEN ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES. OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ALL CLAIMS ARISING OUT OF OR RELATING TO THESE TERMS OR THE SERVICE WILL NOT EXCEED THE GREATER OF THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US IN THE TWELVE MONTHS BEFORE THE EVENT GIVING RISE TO THE CLAIM, OR US$50.
Nothing in these Terms limits or excludes liability that cannot be limited or excluded by law, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or, for consumers in the European Union or the United Kingdom, your statutory rights.
16. Indemnity
To the extent permitted by law, you agree to indemnify and hold us harmless from claims, losses and reasonable costs, including legal fees, brought by third parties and arising from your breach of these Terms, your misuse of the Service, or Your Content, including information about other people that you enter or share.
17. Ending these Terms
You can stop using inCommon at any time, and you can delete your account yourself from your profile in the app (Profile, then Delete account) or ask us to through Contact Support. We may suspend or end your access if you break these Terms, if we must for legal reasons, or if we discontinue the Service; where reasonable we will tell you first. Sections 8 (as to responsibility), 9, 11, 14, 15, 16, 18 and 20 survive the end of these Terms.
18. Governing law and disputes
These Terms and any dispute arising out of or relating to them or the Service are governed by the laws of the State of Florida, United States, without regard to its conflict of law rules. Before starting a claim, please contact us through Contact Support so we can try to resolve it informally; we will try to respond within 30 days.
Any dispute that is not resolved informally will be heard exclusively in the state or federal courts located in the State of Florida, and you and we consent to their jurisdiction, except that either of us may bring an individual claim in a small claims court where it qualifies. If you are a consumer living in the European Union, the United Kingdom or another country whose law gives you the right to bring proceedings, or to rely on the mandatory consumer protections, of the place where you live, nothing in this section takes that right away.
19. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms. We will change the date at the top, and if a change is material we will tell you in the app or by email at least 14 days before it takes effect, unless it is required sooner by law or to address security or misuse. If you keep using the Service after a change takes effect, the updated Terms apply. If you do not agree with a change, stop using the Service and, if you subscribe, cancel before your next renewal.
20. General
- Entire agreement. These Terms and the Privacy Policy are the whole agreement between you and us about the Service.
- Assignment. You may not transfer these Terms. We may transfer them, together with the Service, including to a company formed to operate inCommon, and we will tell you if we do.
- Severability. If any part of these Terms is found unenforceable, the rest stays in effect and that part is enforced to the fullest extent allowed.
- No waiver. If we do not enforce a part of these Terms, that is not a waiver of our right to do so later.
- Events beyond our control. We are not responsible for delays or failures caused by events beyond our reasonable control.
- Notices. We may give you notices in the app or by email to the address on your account.
- Language. These Terms are written in English, which is the version that applies.
21. Acknowledgements
inCommon is built with open source software and open data, used under their licences, including React and three.js (MIT licence), astronomy-engine by Don Cross (MIT licence), and the Supabase client (MIT licence). Place names and coordinates include data from GeoNames (geonames.org), licensed under Creative Commons Attribution 4.0, and place search uses Nominatim with data © OpenStreetMap contributors, available under the Open Database License (openstreetmap.org/copyright). Minor body positions are derived from data published by NASA JPL Horizons.
22. Apps from Apple and Google
If you downloaded inCommon from Apple’s App Store, the following also applies. These Terms are between you and us only, not Apple, and we, not Apple, are solely responsible for the app and its content. Your licence to use the app is limited to a non-transferable licence to use it on Apple branded products that you own or control, as permitted by the Usage Rules in Apple’s Media Services Terms and Conditions, except that it may also be accessed by other accounts associated with you through Family Sharing or volume purchasing. Apple has no obligation to provide any maintenance or support for the app. If the app fails to conform to any warranty that applies, you may notify Apple and Apple will refund the purchase price, if any, of the app to you; to the maximum extent permitted by law Apple has no other warranty obligation for the app. We, not Apple, are responsible for addressing any claims by you or any third party relating to the app or your use of it, including product liability claims, claims that the app fails to conform to any legal or regulatory requirement, and claims under consumer protection, privacy or similar laws, and for the investigation, defence, settlement and discharge of any claim that the app or your use of it infringes a third party’s intellectual property rights. You confirm that you are not located in a country subject to a United States Government embargo or designated by it as a terrorist supporting country, and that you are not on any United States Government list of prohibited or restricted parties. You must comply with any third party terms that apply when you use the app, such as your mobile data provider’s. Apple and its subsidiaries are third party beneficiaries of these Terms and, once you accept them, Apple will have the right to enforce them against you as a third party beneficiary. Questions, complaints or claims about the app go to us, not Apple: Nathaniel J. Figueroa, Florida, United States, through Contact Support in the app.
If you downloaded inCommon from Google Play, Google’s terms for Google Play also apply to your download, and these Terms are between you and us only, not Google.
If you buy Codex Luminary through the App Store or Google Play, that store takes the payment, and its own terms decide billing, renewal, cancellation and refunds for that purchase. You manage and cancel it in your Apple or Google account settings, not in Manage billing. We use RevenueCat to check these purchases, as our Privacy Policy describes.
23. Contact
Questions about these Terms, cancellation, account deletion or anything else: use Contact Support in the app (Settings, Contact Support). The operator of inCommon is Nathaniel J. Figueroa, Florida, United States.
