Butterfly

Transformation carried through to completion, and in Greek the same word as the soul. The image insists on the part people skip: the caterpillar does not improve, it dissolves first.

Where the reading comes from

Psyche means both butterfly and soul, and the Greeks drew her with wings. The dissolution is literal biology, and it is the reason the image keeps its force after it is explained.

Was it flying, or still in the stage before? What in your life is in the part that looks like nothing is happening?
