Storm
Emotional weather that has broken. The tradition reads a storm as feeling that has built past the point where it could be held quietly, and treats it as clearing rather than as damage: a storm is a system reaching equilibrium loudly. The dream usually reports the approach more vividly than the storm itself, which is the part worth noticing.
Where the reading comes from
The storm as divine anger is one of the most widely distributed images there is, and Jung read it more specifically as affect breaking through a persona that had been holding too long. The clearing that follows is in the myth as often as the storm is.
Versions of the dream
Approaching
The sky changing while nothing has happened yet is the anticipation form, and it is the most common one.
Caught in it
Being out in it without shelter tends to arrive when the feeling has already been unavoidable for a while.
From indoors
Watching through glass is the containment version. Notice whether the glass held.
