Wind

Spirit, in the most literal etymological sense the languages have: the same words carry breath, wind and spirit in Hebrew, Greek and Latin alike. Wind in a dream is an unseen force with visible effects, and the reading turns on whether it moved the dreamer along their direction or across it.

Where the reading comes from

The pneuma of the Greeks and the ruach of the Hebrew scriptures are the same word doing both jobs, which is not a coincidence anyone invented later. The wind that fills a sail and the wind that takes a roof are the same force read by its outcome.

Versions of the dream

At your back

The carried form. Notice whether you liked the direction.

Against you

Resistance, and usually a specific one the dreamer can name on waking.

Taking things away

Wind that scatters or removes moves the reading toward loss and toward what was not held down.

Which way was it pushing you? A wind at the back and a wind in the face are the two dreams, and they are not related.
