Hexagram 55: Abundance

Thunder (the storm arriving) over Fire (flame and the sun)

Fullness at its peak, with the sun at midday inside it. The tradition puts the warning in the same sentence as the blessing: what is at noon begins to set, and this is not a reason for grief.

The six lines

Read from the bottom up.

1. Line 1Meeting the one you are matched with. Ten days together, and no mistake in it.
2. Line 2Screened so heavily that stars show at noon. Going out meets mistrust; sincerity is what moves them.
3. Line 3The growth so thick that the small stars show at noon, and the right arm breaks. No fault.
4. Line 4Stars at noon again, and this time meeting an equal. Good fortune.
5. Line 5What is coming brings recognition with it. Good fortune, and it arrives rather than being taken.
6. Line 6The house at its fullest and screened off. Three years and nobody seen. Abundance turned into a wall.
