Animal symbolism
Turtle
What the tradition holds
Read as patience and carrying your own shelter. In several Indigenous North American traditions the continent rests on a turtle back.
Where that reading came from
Turtles are long lived, slow, and carry their protection with them. The symbol needs no elaboration.
Turtles cross roads to lay eggs in early summer. That is when you will notice them, and helping one across is a fine entry.
