Dream symbols · Weather · The Shadow

Eclipse

One light standing in front of another. The image is specifically not darkness: it is a temporary obscuring by something that is itself part of the system, which is why the tradition reads it as an aspect of the dreamer covering another aspect rather than as an external loss. It is dependable, it is brief, and it ends on schedule.

Where the reading comes from

Eclipses were the most reliably predicted frightening events in the ancient world, which is the interesting part: the record shows them read as omens and calculated in advance at the same time, by the same people.

Versions of the dream

Solar

The conscious light covered. Usually read against something the dreamer would normally rely on.

Lunar

The reflective light covered, which the tradition takes to the feeling and the inner world instead.

Someone watching with you

Company changes the dream from an event to a shared one, and the companion is worth naming.
